Have you ever wondered what it means to be “called”?  Well, you might question, “Called to what?”  And Biblically, the answer would be “Called to Christ” or “Called to Faith” or “Called to Christianity” or “Called to Follow Christ” ­ take your pick.  Of course, we should probably first ask, “Who is doing the calling?”  And our text for this Sunday would tell us that Jesus is the One doing the calling. 

We’ll be in Matthew 9:35-10:4 this week, where Jesus calls the twelve apostles and sends them out to minister in His name.  But, as you may already know, He doesn’t just send them out, but He first equips them.  They will spend three years following Him, learning from Him, being tried and tested, so that when He’s gone, they’ll be able to carry on proclaiming the message of the gospel.

But what about when we’re called?  What is Christ calling us to?  How does He expect us to respond?  And what does God want from common people like us?  That’s what we’ll be looking at this Sunday.  I hope to see you there, Dr. Dave
